Jump for my love!

Story

On Friday 10th April I turned 40 and my plan to celebrate the start of a new decade was to push myself (literally!) out of my comfort zone by jumping out of a plane at 13,000 feet! Eeek! Sadly, that ambition didn't quite go to plan because this awful Covid-19 pandemic prevented me from doing the jump on my actual birthday. However, I've now been able to successfully reschedule this and I've chosen to jump on Friday 30th October as this would have been my Dad's 70th birthday. I'm jumping in order to raise money for Willen Hospice, who provided exceptional end of life care for both my parents and supported me during a very difficult time. As I couldn't jump on my birthday, jumping on Dad's 70th is just as good. I miss my parents every single day and birthdays are always particularly hard. I like to think that this jump will help me fly close to them for a brief moment before floating back down to my lovely family on the ground. I set up this tribute page as I wanted to raise £500 - I'm nearly there! Any donations to help me reach my target will be gratefully received. I'm funding the jump myself so any donations will go directly to Willen Hospice. Thanks for supporting me and this very worthy cause. Rach xx P.s. have I mentioned how I don't like heights and am absolutely terrified of doing this!!!!

A million thank yous

26th August 2021
Today - Thursday 26th August - I FINALLY got to jump out of a plane at 13,000 feet after 16 months of waiting and 4 cancelled attempts. It was totally exhilarating and very emotional. Free falling above the clouds was amazing and although it was adrenaline fueled it felt totally calm and I felt my parents were with me. THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH to everyone who kindly donated. I've raised an amazing amount of money for Willen Hospice and I feel blessed to have had so many people support me in my desire to give back and invest in Willen helping more families in the future.

5th time lucky....surely?!

2nd August 2021
If at first you don’t succeed….pick yourself up and try again….and again….and again….AND AGAIN! Two cancellations due to covid. Two cancellations due to weather. One very nervous but equally determined me! This jump WILL happen. Perhaps it just wasn’t meant to happen on a highly emotive date. I have rescheduled to Thursday August 26th and today I will honor my mum's memory by simply holding her beautiful granddaughters close, with two feet firmly on the ground. Thank you to all of you who have sponsored – I promise I will do this! Rach xxx

"If the plan doesn't work, change the plan but never the goal"

21st July 2021
It's been quite a bumpy 15 months since I first booked a sky dive to raise money for Willen Hospice back in March 2020. The first plan of jumping on my 40th birthday weeks later was cancelled due to Covid. The new plan of jumping on what would have been my Dad's 70th in October was cancelled due to unsuitable weather. The third plan of jumping on mothers day in March this year was cancelled due to lockdown. So here we are - plan number 4 - to jump on the 2nd anniversary of losing mum, Sunday 25th July 2021. The goal certainly hasn't changed throughout this time: I set out to raise £500 for Willen Hospice who cared for both my parents towards the end of their lives and I've been blown away by the support and generosity that has not only helped me achieve my goal but smash it. I sincerely hope Sunday is the day I get to finally blow my parents a kiss at 13,000 feet before floating down to my family on the ground. Fingers firmly crossed!
